Hello Stamper Friends,
Last week I posted some news we got about my oldest granddaughter Charlotte, it was under a post of cards so I thought I would share everything incase you missed it. I know a lot of you have followed me from the 1st day she was born so I wanted to share.
Saturday, July 8th Charlotte turned 9 years old and then on Monday she had a doctors appt for a check up. Heather mentioned to the doctor that Charlotte had been peeing and drinking a lot. The doctor told her she would check her for sugar but she doubted that she had it. Heather said when the doctor walked back into the room she could tell by the look on her face that is wasn't good!
Charlotte's sugar was 600 so they sent her right to the hospital, and was told that she is a Type 1 diabetic. It was such a shock to all of us, but she's a trooper and learning all about it.
While she was in the hospital for 3 days to get the sugar under control she had a visitor named Toby:
Then she had some Disney Characters come and visited:
And they gave her a goodie bag:
Dad got to learn how to give Charlotte her insulin, which she will get 4 times a day!
Then she got to give dad a shot with no insulin!
She checks her blood regularly:
Today she received her Dexcome devise, so no more pokes!! She also got a phone so the readings will go right to her phone along with her mom and dad's phone.
She is doing so good, I was watching them on Monday and she came in and wanted to know if she could have a snack and I told her sure and she got out what she wanted and looked up the grams and figured it out and told me she could have 8 animal crackers!!! It's a learning curve for all of them but they are doing great!!
If you would like to send Charlotte a card telling her you are thinking of her, I think she would love it!
